The new Maps 3.0 beta is out Now. First thing you will notice is the new look and feel of map 3.0. The Colours the performance improvements and new 3D landmarks. Maps are now also available in the web under Nokia’s Ovi brand, so point your browser to maps.ovi.com and register as an Ovi user! This enables you to use the synch feature to keep your favourite places up to date in both mobile & web. As far as Nokia Maps service is concerned, Nokia now allows planning your routes on PC and synchronize them with mobile devices (this service is free of charge); plus there are 3D landmarks available for 216 cities around the globe, update local guides and weather forecasts

One thing to note is that compatibility issue with previous map, so you will have to update both the application and map data. Nokia has created a tool for that called Nokia Maps Updater, which you need to install to your Windows PC and run. It will update Maps 3.0 and compatible map data to your device for you automatically

As far as device compatibility is concern Right now the Maps 3.0 beta is available only for Nokia devices based on S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 2, FP1 users will be added after some time

The sale is scheduled for half of 2009 and the price around 550 € and 699 € (depending on the country in question European). It was announced at Nokia World Conference in Barcelona and, until that moment, only 8 of Nokia executives knew the launch of the device and d its features. And its surprise me to know that the development team was isolated to maintain the secrecy of new N series.
